A truly wonderful trek in an area where one takes a step back in

SUMMARY:
Mt Toubkal at 4167m is the highest mountain in
North Africa. The ascent of Toubkal is not technical
but is a rough scramble on scree. However, the
views from the summit are magnificent and well
worth the effort. Far below to the north are the
fertile plains of Marrakech while to the south is the
Jebel Sahro range and the vast expanse of the Great

SUMMARY:
After gathering in Kathmandu we drive up to the Besisahar, the old road head and establish our first camp and
meet up with the porters and cook crew. The first week sees us following the Marsyangdi river up to the base of
the Thorung La pass. We work our way slowly up stopping at Ngadi, Jagat, Dharapani and west to Chame. After
Lower Pisang we can opt for the high trail via Upper Pisang to Manang - a long day but worth it and is followed by
an acclimatisation day. On our rest day, it is an opportunity to climb up to see the very old Lama (92 at the last
count) who has lived in this cave for 38 years and receive a blessing, ready for the pass. We then trek up towards
Yak Kharka and depending on how the group is feeling onto Thorung Phedi and perhaps the High Camp. Peaks on
view may include the Annapurnas, Hinchuili, Machhappuchre,Nilgiri Manaslu etc.The very early start takes us up
and over the 5416 metre Thorung La . Then it is all downhill right down to Muktinath for some oxygen and
warmth! Following our arrival we can visit the famous Buddhist/Hindu temple there and work our way down to
the awesome Kali Gandaki river at Kagbeni . The last days trek is into Jomsom where we will camp over to await
the early flights to whisk us away to Pokhara. In this lovely lakeside retreat we will rest up ready to return on the
tourist bus to Kathmandu which in itself is an unmissable experience! After some R and R in the Tibet Guest House
and a well deserved steak in Kilroys we prepare for the flight home
